Dear Santa and Santa’s little helpers, we need to mend Fred's place so that it will work again and his many friends, fans, admirers, and anybody interested in all this amazing machinery here can come and see for themselves what Fred Dibnah was all about. We are desperately looking for a high profile celeb to be a patron, so if you know one who is willing to just lend his/her name to our project please ask them to contact us. We don’t want anything from them other than their blessing and their name! - New Railings at the front - the old ones are no longer safe. - Electric Gates for the front - for safety and ease of access for visitors. - New Safety Railings/Fencing at the back of the site. To stop people falling in to the river! - Safety Barriers for Machinery! Health and safety regulations so you can visit in safety. - Large Shed with concrete base for storage and displaying artifacts. - New Weather Vane as the old one was pinched. We need scrap brass to make a new vane on Freds forge. - New Blacksmith Anvil - The old one was pinched. - New CCTV and Alarm system. - New Small Housing For Caroline Steam Engine - the existing one was destroyed when the old Caroline engine was taken away. - Stationary Engine needed for when not using Caroline. - Space Heater for the large workshop to stop visitors getting frostbite in winter. - Land rover/Range Rover painted up like Fred' old one. Sponsors name in bold lettering - (good advert for sponsor as it drives around the area.) REFURBISHING LIST - The following is in desperate need or refurbing! - Main Boiler needs bringing back to life + Certification. - Outdoor Machinary seized up due to the elements. Needs fettling and bringing back to life. - Indoor Machinary needs fettling and bringing back to life. - Steam Engine - we have a steam engine that needs putting back together for exhibition. - Mineshaft Engine needs fettling and bringing back to life. - Housing For Mineshaft Engine needs finishing off. - Fred's Forge needs fettling and bringing back to life. - Front Retaning Wall is in bad state of repair and needs rebuilding for safety. - Driveway resurfacing for ease of access - needs to be safe for visitors, especially disabled. - Weather coating for all Woodwork/Decking. - Flooring of Workshop needs to be safe for visitors. - All belting for machines - most belts have been ruined by none use and have weathered. We have some spares but will need some belting to be supplied. - Roof of Main Workshop needs some work to bring up to safety standards. - Garden initial work - one very large non protected tree needs felling as its roots are causing problems for the main workshops safety. - Garden Maintenance - some top soil needed as the whole top surface needed to be removed due to weed infestation. - If anybody out there has a road roller or steam tractor that is in need of restoration, we would love to have the chance to restore it and make it a permanent exhibit for people to come and view. - Any artefacts that can be provided for visitors to see, will be welcome. Well Santa I have to go now! This is going to need a lot of money, approx £200,000, and we can't wait till Christmas as we need to start work now, so if you can rev up your sleigh and make a special journey it would be so nice! Here is a list of the things we need, of course if you would prefer to just send us some money that will be great, anything from £1 to £200,000 will be very much appreciated.
